First day
So we woke up this morning very early. The time change is rough. But we are adjusted already. We had our first Swedish Meatballs at breakfast. They were right there next to the bacon, sausage, and eggs. Overall breakfast out here seems a lot like what our lunch is back home - sandwich stuff.
We noticed that we could see the Scandinavium from our hotel. That's the building we will be in for our convention. And that's the first picture we posted.
We went out in service our first day here. It was nothing like normal service. It was refreshing. We were inviting everyone to the convention. But we were walking the streets of Gothenberg handing them out to anyone we made agreeable eye contact with, which were our instructions. That didn't happen too often, but we had some good contact. We even walked through a mall and witnessed there. Our Swedish guides were named Yessica and Kenth. They were a lot of fun and taught us a lot. With us was a couple from Queens NY, a brother and sister (fleshly) from Santa Maria, and a brother from Burbank. It was encouraging for all of us to have so many out in the field. We were an army marching in groups of 7 or 8 all over the city. We felt powerful as if we outnumbered everyone else. It was awesome.
Tomorrow should be a city tour. Looking forward to the background of Sweden related to our organization.
Interesting facts: We found out Brother Pierce from the Governing Body will be giving our special talks. Also, the Swedish don't seem to believe in ice. :?

I'm so glad food yet for you isn't an issue! Phew! Also, how is the weather there? Sounds like an amazing time preaching! Be safe :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather is perfect. No rains yet like we were expecting. It is a little windy, but not too bad.
DeleteThat sounds sweet! Marching down the street, conquering all you meet! It must be a treat for all you greet! Nothing can beat such a neat feat! ;)
ReplyDeleteFYI buddy...there's a Chinese Group out here attached to an English Congregation. You would love it here.
DeleteBrother Pierce! That's awesome! Service sounds incredible, the way you put it reminds me of Kingdom News 37 :)
ReplyDeleteAlso Ang laughs because she says that no one in Europe believes in ice... Even beer is kept underground and you just get it at the temperature that the ground is!
I pray for you guys in your time of persecution without ice, I know that I would have trouble coping too. Jehovah will see you through my friends, Job 38:29 it was Jehovah who creates the ice and we are simply trying to appreciate it.
I mean seriously, ice isn't a bad thing and it doesn't cost much - unless frozen water is on the rise.
DeleteYa, all iz gooooood. Serenaded off the bus, street witnessing, farmer's breakfast-Sweeeeeeet

Tell Noah that they even have French fries in Sweden. I haven't tried them to see if they are just as good though. Oh and there is no shortage of ketchup.
DeleteWay cool guys. Guess what, we know the brother from Burbank, tell Michael we said have fun. Boy what a small world it is. Have a great time you guys. Thanks for keeping us posted on all the fun.
ReplyDeleteMichael said to say hi to you guys!
DeleteHe is staying in the same hotel so hopefully we run into him again to tell him you say hi. It definitely is a small world...
